Hinterland
BBC Wales asked Atticus to help create an interactive user experience for Welsh hit show Hinterland. The experience would be available on the BBC Taster Website giving users a first person perspective of Detective Chief Inspector, Tom Mathias.
Challenges
On location we had to work closely with London Djinn and their team to ensure the story between the two agencies would work between the linear and 360˚ filming. Low lighting on set created issues with video quality.
Solution
We combined 360˚ video and stills to optimise the quality of the 360˚ footage. Team coordination was key on location to achieve one vision for the project. In post production our creative team combined stills and video where possible to optimise quality for the low lighting.
Outcome
Hinterland production company Fiction Factory shot the cinematic footage that introduced the scenario. We integrated this with our 360˚ footage to create a great user experience, “Catch A killer,” for the BBC Taster website. The experience created an online drama that would integrate with their social media accounts, creating a realistic experience.
